PRIVACY POLICY

Effective October 8, 2026

Plainword collects only the information it needs to sell, print and deliver your order, and you can ask us to see or delete it at any time by emailing teamplainword@gmail.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. In this policy, “Plainword,” “we” and “us” mean the business that operates this online store, and “you” means anyone who visits it or buys from it.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information you give us. When you place an order, contact us or sign up for emails, we collect:

- Your name, email address, shipping address and billing address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide it at checkout
- Your order details, such as the products you bought and the price you paid
- Anything you write to us, such as questions, feedback or reviews

We never see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by our payment processors, described below.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our store, our platform and tools automatically collect:

- Device and browser details, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and approximate location (city or region)
- How you use the store, such as the pages you view, the products you add to your cart, the links you click and how you arrived (for example, from an ad)
- Cookies, pixels and similar technologies, described below

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

- Process, print, ship and track your order, and send you order and shipping confirmations
- Handle refunds, replacements and customer service requests
- Prevent fraud and keep the store secure
- Understand how visitors use the store so we can improve it
- Show you relevant ads and measure whether our ads work
- Send marketing emails, but only if you agreed to receive them; every marketing email has an unsubscribe link
- Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the store, and only what they need to do their job:

- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout
- Payment processors, such as Shopify Payments, Shop Pay or PayPal, which process your payment securely
- Lulu, our printing partner, which prints your book and needs your name and shipping address to deliver it
- Shipping carriers, which deliver your order and provide tracking
- Email service providers, which send order updates and, if you opted in, marketing emails
- Advertising and analytics partners, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which help us show ads to people likely to be interested and measure how those ads perform

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Like most online stores, we share some browsing and purchase data with advertising partners such as Meta. Some state privacy laws treat this as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time, as explained under Your Privacy Rights.

COOKIES, PIXELS AND ADVERTISING

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Pixels are small pieces of code that report actions on our store, such as viewing a product or completing a purchase. We and our partners use them to:

- Keep your cart working and remember your preferences
- Measure visits and how people use the store
- Show you Plainword ads on other websites and apps, and measure their results. We use the Meta Pixel and Meta’s Conversions API, which send information about actions on our store to Meta from your browser and from our servers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the store, such as the cart, may stop working. You can also manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:

- Know what personal information we have about you and receive a copy of it
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and of targeted advertising
- Not be treated differently for using any of these rights

We extend these rights to all of our customers, wherever they live. To make a request, email teamplainword@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will confirm your identity, usually by matching the email address on your order, and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we will review it again.

To stop marketing emails, click “unsubscribe” in any of them. You will still receive messages about orders you place.

HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

We keep order information for as long as we need it to fulfill orders, handle refunds and meet tax and accounting requirements, which is generally up to seven years. We keep marketing information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

HOW WE PROTECT IT

Our store and checkout run on Shopify, which encrypts payment information and follows industry security standards. We limit access to personal information to the services that need it. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

CHILDREN

Our store is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

VISITORS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES

We are based in the United States, and the services we use may store and process information in the United States and other countries. By using our store, you understand that your information may be processed outside your own country.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be posted on this page before they take effect.
